The Fornacina estate of the Biliorsi family is located in the prime south-east section of Montalcino. Their legendary winemaker Attilio Pagli is acknowledged as one of the fineist in Tuscany and Umbria (where he developed the famous Sagrantino wine).
In the great 2015 vintage, their Brunello was given 93 points by James Suckling and 92 points by leading Italian wine authority Ian D’Agata in Vinous Magazine.
The wine has ripe black cherry flavors on the palate, with subtle hints of Mediterranean herbs and anise on the nose. The tannins are soft and elegant. It is already drinking beautifully, and will continue to improve for 15-20 years.
While sensational with wild boar and other game, it is superb with all red meats.
Also excellent with pasta with meat sauces, and with Pecorino and Parmesan cheese.
