- Ten years ago Simone Scaletta quit his day job in Torino and lived out of his van to oversee the growing and winemaking of his family’s 12 acres of vines in some of the finest Crus in Barolo.
- The Bussia vineyards in Monforte d’Alba are noted for producing the biggest, richest and most long-lived Barolos. The 2015 vintages there is considered one of the best in recent times.
- Now 5 years in bottle, this impressive wine is just beginning to show the “secondary” aromas and flavors for which Barolo is famous. Professional tasters have noted in this wine hints of “roasted coffee beans, exotic spices, dried cranberry, orange rind and licorice.”
- It is tempting to enjoy this wine now with roasted meats and game, and with truffle and mushroom dishes. It will continue to blossom with each passing year, for 20-30 years +.
